Boston authorities reportedly identify 'Baby Doe' as pair questioned in death

DEVELOPING: Authorities have identified "Baby Doe," a 4-year-old girl whose body was found in June on a rocky beach outside the city and police were reportedly questioning the girl's mother and her boyfriend.
A warrant was executed Thursday in Mattapan in connection with the mystery child, whose death prompted a nationwide billboard campaign to identify the girl and her killers, a law enforcement source told Fox affiliate WFXT. Police said they have enough evidence to identify the child, the source told the station.
The girl's mother and her boyfriend, neither of whom were identified, were being questioned in connection with the girl's death, and police have spoken to other family members, according to television station WCVB.
The Suffolk County District Attorney's Office did not confirm the report Friday, saying, "That investigation remains very active but, beyond that, we have no updates to share."
"Should the situation change, we will update you immediately," said Jake Wark, a district attorney spokesman.
The girl's body was discovered June 25 in a trash bag on Deer Island in Massachusetts by a woman walking her dog. Authorities said they believe the child -- found wrapped in a blanket -- was placed there. Authorities at the time said the girl was around 3 or 4 years old and that a cause of death could not be determined. An analysis of pollen on the girl's clothing indicated that she was likely from the Boston area.
