Kiwis lap up blue movies

KIWIS have a growing appetite for porn.

Adult movies watched in New Zealand have risen by a third and willkeep doing so as a variety of new production houses compete forbusiness.

Porn king Steve Crow says the number of porn movies he distributeshere under Vixen Direct rose 30 percent in a year.

This is despite competition from pay-per-view TV, the internet andother distributors.

"Even though competition has increased we have continued to grow.But so has the market."

They've doubled the number of titles imported each month from 12to 24.

"There's a greater variety of stuff suitable for couples andwomen. With porn going mainstream and becoming more acceptable thereare more and more people watching it."

And Crow is cornering some of the biggest titles for theAustralasian market.

Vixen Direct introduced titles from European producer Marc Dorceland a hardcore Playboy line from Spice Studios.

He says Spice Studios is about to align with ClubJenna, whichshowcases the biggest name in porn - Jenna Jameson.

Vixen also distributes Platinum Blue, Nectar and 1st Strike films,and CinemaPlay.

And Los Angeles-based Wicked Pictures spokesman Steven Vlottessays Vixen has become the first company to sell its product inAustralasia.

"Vixen will be providing Wicked with 100 percent effort to makethe Wicked name as popular there as it is here in the USA."

Wicked represented US porn star Kaylani Lei before she moved toNew Zealand to be with All Blacks halfback Byron Kelleher.

Kaylani has not contacted Wicked about relaunching her careerafter returning to the US this year.
